Schütz v Werit: rapid reaction forum

Mr Justice Floyd (Chairman), Daniel Brook (Hogan Lovells), Tom Mitcheson (3 New Square), Richard Meade QC and Lindsay Lane (8 New Square) and Michael Silverleaf QC (11 South Square), Bobby Mukherjee (IP Federation, BAe).

Venue: Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer (Entrance at corner of Bouverie St and Tudor Street)

Following  Wednesday's Supreme Court ruling in Schütz v Werit, AIPPI is delighted to announce a rapid reaction forum to review and comment on the decision.  The case will be introduced by Daniel Brook (the partner at Hogan Lovells acting for Werit).  Christopher Floyd, who gave the judgment at first instance, will chair the panel discussion.  We are hoping to have a panel including counsel for Werit (Tom Mitcheson), for Schütz (Richard Meade QC and Lindsay Lane),  Michael Silverleaf QC who was counsel in the United Wire case that the Schütz decision reviews, and Bobby Mukherjee, the President of the IP Federation and Chief Counsel -IP Techonolgy and Law at BAe.

The Supreme Court's decision sets new law in the important topic of repair/re-manufacture and patent infringement, arguably marking a further move towards developing a system of European Union legal precedent in patent matters.

The course is directed at all levels of practitioners with an interest in intellectual property and will provide them with an understanding of a new Supreme Court judgment on patent infringement.  Attendance is free for members and non-members.

As this is a forum arranged at short notice, please note that there will not be a drinks reception afterwards.

New membership applications are welcome - please see our website www.aippi.org.uk or contact secretary@aippi.org.uk for further details.  Junior membership costs £30 and normal membership is £110.

SRA and IPReg, and (pending approval) BSB, CPD 1 hour. AIPPI United Kingdom is accredited under the Solicitors Regulation Authority's and the Bar Standards Board's CPD schemes.
